Maybe it’s some sort of hazard based on the types of lifts.

It’s a hazard, it’s not because it gives someone an advantage. Just like high school baseball, no jewelry, ear rings, or anything like that. It’s a safety issue. Now I don’t know if beads in hair has any kind of hazard, but it’s not in place because they’re trying to single out African Americans. In baseball, the teams that give the most problems with jewelry and stuff, are the big white schools, that care a lot about baseball.

The three lifts involved are squat, bench, deadlift.

The beads are potentially an issue on the squat between danger to the lifter and danger to the people spotting them.
