While I agree that this guy is a total clown. He does have a bolt (or at least a bolt carrier) in his rifle. The open space you're seeing in the back of the receiver is because he has the safety off which also acts as a dust cover and would normally close that space off if the safety were engaged.

I don't think so mate. Look at the weapon he is holding during the interview. There is a gaping hole under the top dust cover that the bolt with the charging handle should either be in two places:
1. Closed forward and therefore there should be no hole visible or
2. The bolt locked back and the AK safety clatch engaged and holding it rearward (note: I don't trust this method and have seen it fail with off brand AKs).
My vision is awful and the footage isn't HD but I see neither the bolt OR the safety clatch.
