I think a lot of young people look at their parents and grandparents and say ' they got ripped off'. Sure the parents/grandparents had a good job for 30 or so years and a pension but had a butt load of bills to pay, working for the 'Man' and paying those taxes to Uncle Sam.
And what did they get ?
Inflation is like 20% , and the parents can't afford to take a vacation to Port Allen. One parent got cancer, one can't remember shite (alzheimer's ). Neighborhood has turned to shite with drugs and shootings.
So young folks say F it , F the Job, F the Rat Race, you only live once. And they hit the road and traveled to Tibet or Key West.

The week after that I graduated from high school I packed up and went to LSU and basic training. I had odd jobs since I was in the 6th grade. I worked during holidays and Spring Break ( no ski trips for me). Solid work after graduation , took one day off for my Mom's funeral. My boss's boss treats him like shite and it rolls downhill.
If I knew then what I know now I would have run away from home after I graduated from high school.
