How do I respond to a thread when I'm not directly responding to a particular person?

Almost 71,000 posts. You had to have noticed that we must reply to someone.
The only reasonable places to reply, to me, in the case of directly replying to nobody, is the last post or the original post.
I went with the last on this occasion.
So, on a platform that forces a user to reply to somebody, you find it reasonable to assume that someone posting a message to "everybody" is directing a message at you?
I'd have to conclude that you're not a reasonable person in this instance.

Not my job to tell you how to post. That’s on you.
However, when you respond to somebody with “all you guys”, it’s natural for the person to whom you’re responding to assume he’s included in that group…is it not?
