And i'm fine with Batman focusing on crime, but what's the point of Bruce Wayne being a hermit? I still haven't figured out what has driven him to be that way. Is this movie portraying him as being that way his entire life thus far? If so, how did he get out of bed long enough to give a shite about fighting crime? Batman fights crime in Gotham b/c he cares about Gotham. Why is this Batman fighting crime?

The whole point is that he’s pissed off about his parents death. So pissed off that he literally doesn’t care about anything else or himself.

As others have mentioned, it’s not until end that he realizes Bruce Wayne is just as important to Gotham as Batman is.

As much as people say this movie isn’t an origin story, it basically is one. And Batman realizing that Bruce is just as important is called is called a “character arc”. This isn’t The Dark Knight. It’s something completely different, and if you don’t like it, just move on to something else.
