Its not even skill so much as consistency. College guys can throw pitches like that from time to time and hit 99 mph, but they cant do it 98 times out of a hundred within inches of their spot. It is ridiculous how dialed in MLB pitchers are.

Ironically one of the reasons I don’t really enjoy Major League Baseball like I do college. The pitching is too good. The hitters are too good. The fielding is too good. It eliminates a lot of the wacky weird shite that makes baseball fun, at least to me. I turn Major League Baseball on late summer when the division races really heat up. By that point the contenders are so good that some of wackiness comes back.
