No just because everyone else does it doesn’t mean Wade should’ve been retained. If landing elite recruits and taking the risks to get them brings this kind of trouble it’s a hard pass for me because you don’t need em to win. There are plenty of examples of good teams who win in March that don’t have elite prospects on the roster. Give me a good 3-4 year college basketball player over a prospect any day.
Madking: I don't often agree with you, but I do on this post.

Getting 5*s requires recruiting risk and, like you, I'd rather target very good players who will be here for 3-4 years, but not the 5*s, who will most often leave after a year or two.

We can still have big success here with that model.

So you would RATHER a Team that maybe makes a Tourney run every 8-10 Years if ur lucky, bc the HC found a few diamonds in the rough that need to be “coached up” or said HC just gets lucky & finds an elite guy thats been overlooked (JaMorant)
RATHER THAN
A program with sustained excellence that can get Elite 5* players in every recruiting class that can take you to the F4 any given year (like Duke, UK, UNC, Kansas, Villanova, UCLA, Mich St, Michigan, Gonzaga, Arizona etc)?

Thats the ONLY 2 Choices CHIEF!!!
