After seeing last night and watching Bama all season, I have to say I really miss that style of our defense. Long gone are the days we use to be dominant and aggressive. Saban has already turned Bama's defense in a absolutely dominant form, its mostly why they have done so good this year because they certainly have obvious weaknesses.

I was not a fan of the promoting from within, nor am I a fan of it now. I'm not going to panic yet but if this carries over to the SC game, they've got to go. And since we're on the point of defenses, I've been watching SC this year and they have a great defense. This DC for SC has done a pretty damn good job with their defense the past few years. Anyways, if we find another DC, do you think its possible we keep them? I find it hard to believe they'd take a demotion, seeing as how its humiliation, much less Miles firing them...

I don't think either of them go back to being assistants on this staff. It would be a bad idea and conflict between them and the new DC would be inevitable.

People take demotions all the time. They stay on the staff and move down to a positional coach. UF did it a few years ago with Zook demoting their OC midseason to QBs coach.

It's the nature of the game... you don't perform, find someone else that will...

You have the option to pull for Bama since it appears you are more of a Saban fan than a Tiger fan.

Yea, I've been very impressed with SC's DC, I'd like to see him on our list if our DCs don't start picking the slack up. SC isn't exactly the most talented team but they play aggressive and I fully expect SC to be a much closer game this weekend than some might think. SC has actually been playing very well lately, as has their QB. SC plays a lot of man coverage though, this could break them considering our skillset at receiver...especially Lafell 1 on 1.

I think you are confused with when Zook himself was demoted by Spurrier from DC to Special Teams Coach.

Oh, and I think all of you are in for a rude awakening if you think Miles is actually going to demote Mallory/Peveto. They'll get at least two years.

Same style of defense and Alabama is winning games because of their defense. No Muschamp there now...

Say what you will about Saban but you can't deny hes a great defensive minded coach.

Miles is so loyal, no way he fires or demotes them any time soon

Muschamps D gave up 35 points yesterday. He's not a defensive god.

If Miles is so loyal that he stays with these 2 ,then we will probably see the G Denardo Pt 2 unfold before our eyes , I think, and hope Miles is smarter than that

Miles coached alongside both DiNardo and Tepper. I'd advise Miles to give Gerry a call and discuss where blind loyalty gets you at LSU. I hope it doesn't have to come to that.

There is no excuse for our defense to get totally dominated yesterday. These two DC's did not deserve to inherit a team with this much talent. LSU could have hired just about any DC in the country. I just don't get it.

The main reason I have loved Miles from the start is because of his ability to hire top notch coordinators. Unfortunatly he really screwed up this hire and hopefully he has enough balls to "fix" the problem in the off-season.

I am afraid you could be right. But if the slow deteriorization of our defense doesn't stop, we will go back to the dark days of LSU football. Looked what happened to Auburn's offense by Tubberville making a questionable hire. Their offense is a joke now. Our defense is slowly follow that same course.
