Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 (Gen 3)

Eta

Whats your budget? Cause with that one it'll be everything you'll ever need. You could multi mic a lot in the future, like an entire drumkit for example if opportunity arises. I know you said simple..but still.

Just trying cut out the lag and clarify.
Think I will order that Focusrite deal with the condenser mic and basic interface.
I know you know the good stuff.

Focusrite is great...not to cloud your decision, but just got the UA Volt 2, and has been fantastic so far. I will likely return and upgrade to the Volt 276 for the larger meters. Decent plug-in bundle as well.

I’ve struggled with making this decision for years and always come back to focus rite scarlet but that’s all I can budget given my limited recording experience. I’d love to plan to scale up like Clint suggested,
