Is he our next guy? If you look at what he’s done to saint Peter, just imagine what he will do here.

One season or one game in March madness doesn’t make a coach.

You’re right it usually takes winning your conference, recruiting at a high level and winning 90 games over a four year span, and making the NCAA tournament consistently should rank high as qualifications of a Good b-ball coach. Oh wait?!?!

True - we've seen enough of these impulse hires of coaches who get that big upset in the tourney to know most don't work out.

Holloway may be one of the exceptions, we'll see but this type of hire isn't Scott's M.O. Certainly the circumstances might cause him to change that M.O. But the rumblings I hear is he's going to shoot for the moon first and follow his typical path of going after a big name/big splash hire. Only if and when that fails will he fall back to a hire like a Holloway.

But that defense he has his kids playing. That’s how they win. That’s coaching.

Sampson is not leaving Houston. He just received new facilities in the past few years, about to move into the Big 12, has the program humming, in a great recruiting territory, and most importantly has a good relationship with Tilman Fertitta who will make sure that Sampson is more than fairly compensated to keep him there.
