Baseball issues - It's the Defense

LSU is 5th in the SEC in pitching, opponents are only hitting .201 against them, 5th in team BA, second in on base %, in the top 3 in slugging %, 4th in runs scored, third in RBI,
DEAD LAST in defense with 31 errors (next closest is Ole Miss with 21) on the season Adding two last night and another two on Friday night
The concern going into the season was pitching and it's been good enough to win...the defense right now is as bad as I can remember and while the HC is ultimately responsible for outcomes these errors are more on the players than him.
Jay Johnson didnt make Jordan Thompson an atrocious fielder all of a sudden. The dude had 15 errors all last season and already has 8 this year.

If it was one player I would agree
The team has 33 errors and Thompson only has 8 of those. So obviously it’s a team problem not a player problem.

Yeah, it was definitely Jacob Berry who sailed T/F out of a ball hit to him at 3rd. It wouldn't have mattered if we had that 7 foot pitcher at 1st, there was no way Morgan was getting that. That error broke our back last night.

Fielding regression is a player issue not a coaching issue.

You should view our stats with a grain of salt, and realize where some of them came from. Our OOC opponents this year were mostly a joke, and too many fans fell for the numbers we were putting up. The first La. Tech game should have been a glaring red flag.

Systemic case of the yips. They’ll subside. Hopefully soon.
