I'm sorry, but who is this "We" that you refer to? Because I can assure you, the amount of money currently being spent on research & development in hypersonic missile defense and our own hypersonic offensive weaponry is highly significant. I believe anything Ivan currently throws out, we've (U.S. DOD and defense partners) already gathered the knowledge on how they do it. Whether or not the current capability of the counter-measures that's been developed, so far, are able to effectively intercept and destroy a Hypersonic missile has not yet been publicly stated. That we've developed a proven and effective counter-measure (or not) is very debatable. Everyone I know who is working in the research and testing is bound by confidentiality due to the secretive, classified nature of the testing. Nonetheless, I do learn from them some of the purpose of the nature of the tests and research and methods of what and how they're testing from the physicists and engineers in those defense organizations that I work with.
