LINK

I've recently got out of collecting and trying to sell off some of my stuff. I have shining force 3, in very good condition, thought I'd see if anyone on the gaming board might be interested.

I loved the SF series back in the day. I recently played through Shining in the Darkness and SF1 and SF2 for nostalgia. Sadly I don't own a Saturn. A friend of mine had this game though and I played through the first scenario. I haven't looked in quite a while to see if emulation is available for this game along with scenario 2 and 3 (particularly, an english translation for scenarios 2 and 3).

Very cool. I do believe there is an English patch for scenario 2 and 3 as I remember a friend playing those years ago

Just because something is old, does not mean it is worth money

Some of the prices on these old games are just nuts. A fool and his money though.

It's not about age, it's about limited supply of an item that is no longer in production. It's the same concept as any other collectors item.

I sold it for $290, so yeah it was worth something

But I do agree with you that these old game prices have gotten out of hand, which is why I stopped buying years ago and now selling out

Damn. I have a copy of this and had no idea it was worth that much. I have several copies of SF2 as well.

Video games are something that should not be collectible though, nothing in the digital space should.

Of course I am not a NFT person

There are rare items, that are truly rare because of materials and/or uniqueness in history that can be duplicated. A stupid video game can be copied and played on a dang emulator. The rarity is man made for money

Shining Force 3 was released at the end of the Saturn's life so only a few thousand copies were made.

These are physical though and they only increase in value. A few years ago I sold my used copy of Castlevania SOTN for $80 and now it's going for at least twice that.

Was it CIB? You should've gotten $100 more for it at least.

Yup CIB. I know I could have gotten more but honestly I'm trying to meet in the middle of just getting rid of the stuff and making a decent profit on it.

I understand what you are saying. I emulate many games myself. But that doesn't change the value of an authentic copy of said item. I mean, any card production company technically could reprint any Michael Jordan expensive as shite card, but they don't, and won't, and even if they did, it wouldn't hold the value that the original does. Reprints never change the value of an original.

Prices for such things are absurd, but it is what it is. Go look on ebay and see what a complete version of Earthbound or Chrono Trigger for the SNES pull in.
