re: At some point, the reality and seriousness of where we are headed is sinking in

We Americans have lived very comfortable lives especially post WWII. Around the 1960s (LBJ) the great society began to erode, our politicians began selling us out wholesale for their own benefits.
We "suddenly" find our country is not the secure, comfortable, and safe place that we thought would last indefinitely.
But, we still have (for the most part) good incomes, mortgages, car notes, etc...We also are still in positions to provide food, clothes, and activities for ourselves and our children.
My belief is although the "reality and seriousness of where we are heading" has not "sunk in" sufficiently enough to make us so uncomfortable that we are ready to risk or give up our comfortable lives to affect change at this point. We likely never will.
In general, we have become a soft society. We are not the same "salt of the earth" patriots that people were before the 1960s.
I believe the country we knew and the lifestyles we enjoyed have already been lost and gone forever.

This right here is dead on.
For those of you selfish fricks who keep falling into "what could I have done" land, just think about what you really know about your local politicians.
Who are your alderman? How do they vote? When do they vote? When was the last time you looked at the agenda or attended a meeting? Are they conservative with your money?
What about those sitting on your police juries? Who are they? How do they vote? Do they play games with your money?
Your local assessor? Sheriff?
Is it starting to click that you don't know shite about shite, and your head has been jammed up your arse?
