What exactly do you think his expectations were? To take all of Ukraine? You are a fool if you think so. The major hurdle in his campaign seem to be taking Kiev and Kharkiv without massive civilian casualties. He wouldn't be able to hold Kiev. The only goal there is to take out the wests puppet government and install a move favorable one.

He wants to carve out the southern and eastern 1/3 of Ukraine that is mostly ethic Russians that largely want to be a part of Russia or at least allied with them and have a government in Kiev that isn't an outright puppet of the west.

Nothing is undebatable at this point. We are 4 days in and have very little reliable intel on what is going on.

Let me be clear in saying I have no affinity for Putin since that seems to be the go to insult for anyone not making huge leaps in logic or calling him names.
