Staying at which airport’s hotel?
Flights from US generally take you to Schiphol which is suburban Amsterdam. Rotterdam has a city airport closer to their downtown. That’s mostly for short flights from Europe or UK.
Was there in the late 90s. I recall an interesting restaurant in an old building on a river island. You need a water taxi to get there. Also some good brew pubs in the old neighborhoods.
Other than some interesting architecture downtown be prepared for lots of shore tanks. And cranes.
