FWIW mods on premium sites have mentioned O had no chance to get Tackett. Even Tackett mentioned about not liking the LSU culture when he was around and where things were headed, so as long as O was here we never had a shot with Tackett.

Wisconsin and other B10 schools have done a great job recruiting him early on which is why you see so much interest there. Tackett mentioned relationship building is huge with him and those schools have done the best job early on so his attention has mostly been there.

Kelly and staff are really going to have to blow things away for us to get back in it here. Not saying it's impossible but he is working against a few years of schools like Wisconsin working Tackett the right way. I wouldnt say Tackett is sold on leaving the state regardless but he certainly has no issue going far away.

I think it will be pretty easy for Kelly to distance himself from Orgeron. And guys may say they really want to leave the state...until they realize everything that comes with leaving the state. In Baton Rouge you are far enough away from small town NW Louisiana to feel the sense of independence of leaving home...but close enough where home is easily accessible if/when you need/want it. And for a kid from Louisiana, Midwest winters can be a big culture shock.

Recruits now have to look at LSU with fresh eyes again. The HC that crashed them into a massive drop-off following 2019 is gone. That HC's approach and way of doing things are gone. But the program is still here. LSU has shown it can win big with several different coaches. Something no Big 10 school outside of Ohio St. can say in many of these kids' lifetimes.

Maybe Kelly isn't as far off as we may think...

Tackett Curtis, Notre Dame

This article is from May 15, 2021...which means the kid has to love and respect Kelly.

And on Wednesday, the Many High School standout added Notre Dame to that list.

“I'm pumped about it,” the 6-foot-2, 207-pounder said of the Irish offer.

“They've got it going over there. It's such a great program. They've been a great program since I was little. They used to be my second favorite team back when they played Alabama in the national championship and they had Manti Te'o. He used to be my guy.”

If Kelly can work this angle and show that the program is going in the right direction (which we have no doubt so far), he should have a great chance.

Tacketts coach was on the Fletcher show and said he really liked Wisky that they flew them up there for a game a treated them like kings and said LSU had a lot of work to do. Didnt sound encouraging.

kinda crazy to hear that on relationship alone, a country boy from Louisiana has that much interest in a frigid place all the way up in Wisconsin. I mean this ain't a 3 star recruit, this is a top 100 kid. Wisconsin is a good place for defensive players, OL, and RBs so I can see why on that front too.

Anyway, I want the guys that want to be at LSU. LSU survived losing Tillery to Notre Dame, and we've poached kids from up north (Pocic, Spencer Ware, Kiner just recently, etc).
