He certainly did and he certainly will. A contrived mistake to draw attention to himself at the expense of his teammates. And it worked because during the Super Bowl everybody was talking about him. And he'll damn sure be remembered - and laughed at for it - as the dumbass who screwed his teammates to be in the spotlight.

In the NFL world his actions will be referenced as a stupidly selfish act committed at the expense of his team in the Super Bowl. Difficult to blow that out of proportion.
As far as mainstream America goes it's very safe to say he will be fodder for late night and touring comedians for the rest of his life - particularly around Super Bowl time.
