Blue isn’t much of an advantage out there. Lots of boxes share the gold and blue tees.

We offer it at 55 years old, but some move up, some don’t.
Plus you are only in senior or net if you move up for club championship.
The picture on the wall is low gross from blue tees.

If you can hit it 300 yards, moving up is pointless.
Age is a number. Play a tee that allows you to reach at least one par 5 in two.
The par 3s should be a mixture of short/mid irons, and hybrids. I was taking head covers off on every par 3 so my friends suggested moving up. Par 4s should be played from a tee where no more than 1 per side is a fairway wood. A couple should be 8iron to wedge- maybe one should even be drivable. This is recreation for me, not work.

I only hit driver about 220(further in summer with roll, but not long by any stretch) so I play the first tee over 6000 yards. That is enough golf to get all my clubs out of the bag during the rounds. I have friends that hit it well over 300. The back tees are not really enough for them at many courses.

If I played the tips, it would be a long day. I am not a great golfer, but moving up a tee has made it more fun. It’s about 3 shots easier per round for me. My friends were as excited than I was when I made a hole in one from the gold tee.

Golf is fun. Play it forward.

If you have great ability and are not physically limited, play wherever you want to.

Around 6600 yds is fun for my group these days.

I can play further back , but what's the point at 65.

We play a money game, but it's not blood and guts any more.

These days it's about hitting some decent shots, fellowship and the 19th hole.
