I got obnoxiously drunk at the A&M game on 11/27. Waking up that Sunday morning with a bad hangover and realizing this was just about every weekend, I decided to stop drinking for a month. That was not an easy time of year to quit drinking but I made it and have only had 2 beers since then which I didn't even drink half of.
The book that helped me is "This Naked Mind". It points out, among other things, that alcohol is a poison. It holds the status in our society because that's business.
