My whole thing was never Lonzo is better than Graham(Though he is), it was that it could/should have been Lonzo + Graham.

Retain the asset in Lonzo and move him when the oppurtunity arises. Which, Lonzo for McCollum or Simons would sort of be the type of move I was talking about.

Lonzo didnt have to be your forever guy, but even at 20 mil and an injury, teams would still love his production and fits in with a lot of rosters.

In a world where we matched, Lonzo for McCollum or Simons would be an easy sell for Portland. Replace McCollum with the 3 and D guard they've always needed for 10 million less a year

Yea this is my view of the Lonzo decision right now. My understanding is the main reason for not signing him was opportunity cost. Well who is on the roster right now that wouldn’t be here had we just resigned Lonzo? That’s not a rhetorical question I certainly don’t know the nba cap well enough to know. Until I see someone on the roster thanks to the space cleared by Lonzo I don’t see how letting him walk (functionally) was a good decision.
