Perhaps you forgot LSU was a good to elite offensive team for the first 4 years of Wade's tenure. It was the defense that was awful. Wade didn't forget how to teach offense. It's that the offensive approach he had in those first 4 seasons isn't effective with THIS group of players. The foundation of Wade's offense is spacing and ball screens. He puts a ton of playmaking responsibility on the guards. They are asked to create the offense. In year 1 and 2 he had the best PG since Chris Jackson on his team in Waters, along with a solid vet at SG in Mays. In years 3-4 he had Smart at PG who could create his own shot anytime he wanted. Last year he coupled that with probably the best pure scorer he's at the SG spot in Thomas.
This year LSU doesn't have that level of guard play. So when much of your offense relies on the guards creating it you are only as good as those players. You are seeing the results.
On the flip-side you are seeing the results of dogged defensive guard play (something Wade didn't really have in his first 4 years)

Wade should've noticed in pre-season practice that his guard play won't support the type of offense he likes to run, and he should've adapted early with a different offensive scheme for the players we have.
Plugging players into a predetermined scheme, when they're not the right fit, is poor coaching. It just is.

Wade not having an elite, or at least a solid, point guard is disappointing. I think he whiffed on his point guard drafting for this season. Especially in the point guard playing pool, or lack thereof.
