A blogger from NOLA has a detailed recipe for making this version. She says, "Hands down, my favorite king cake is from Dong Phuong (DP) in New Orleans East, a Vietnamese-French bakery that I grew up across the street from for most of my childhood."
I had a piece of one that was made with her recipe, and it was really good.
