Tried that on two different macbooks, no dice. Doesn't register in a finder window. Got everything onto the new phone from icloud backup, now its about trying to get the device to boot up so I can wipe it and sell it or let one of my kids have it as an upgrade.

Sooo...I left it plugged in to a charger, and just checked it - was going to try putting it into DFU mode again, and it had booted again. In the process of wiping it, then see where it goes from there. Thanks again for suggestions.
