I've learned to be a DIY electrician, appliance install & repairman, painter, fixture installer, pool boy & carpenter.

I don't do any of these things particularly well but I cannot fathom how much we would have spent hiring this done especially given how many times my wife changes her mind on lighting.

My favorite moment was a couple of months after having installed her DREAM chandelier on a 14" ceiling a guy shows up at the door while I'm working and says he's here for the chandelier posted on buy/sell/trade.

I was furious. I had to remove it without tearing it up (18 light fixtures) and it felt like 500 pounds and had ugly wiring sticking out of the ceiling for another 2 months while she shopped around for a new one.
