Scenario:

Play is run to the boundary side. On the LJ's side. The play ends right at the sideline. 35 yard line. Inbounds.

The LJ will spot the ball on his foot.
The U will come up from trailing the play in the middle of the field and have the ball given to him by the R or he'll get it himself where he then spots it in accordance w/the LJ's foot(spot).

It's been like this forever. And for good reason. The U is always the closest to the ball and in the middle of the field.

None of this matters.... the entire offensive line was offsides when the ball was snapped after the ref placed it correctly.
