I lived in Sanford, a really great town in the southern part of the state. Built a bank.
The people were incredibly friendly. Rented a garage apartment from a family and they treated me as family.
Once you leave a town you are on your own. Cell service can be sketchy.
Gas stations are few and far between. Make sure the tank is full before leaving.
Summers were very pleasant compared to Atlanta. A small window unit ac cooled the whole place and after sunset you opened the windows and breathed clean, fresh sweet smelling air.
Hardly used that window unit or the truck ac. Open the windows especially if driving out of town, smell the forest and hear the streams.
Subaru is a necessity. Winter does not play up there.
If you are nice to them they will return the favor.
Lobster is really cheap.
Food is entirely different. If you like grits then bring them with you.
I’d move there tomorrow but my wife won’t.

Atlanta seems like my fresh hell. I’d go to Maine.
