Loser of the LSU/Alabama game

If Alabama or LSU lost that game and sat at 11-1 (While not going to the SECCG), what would you say are the chances either would be hanging around for the AP #1 ranking after the bowls?

Zero, & it doesn't matter anyway. AP Poll is irrelevant.

if they're not in the NC what does it matter?

I think the chances are good that team could be in the NC game, if say, the winner of LSU/Bama goes on to lose to a 2-loss Fla or Ga in the SECCG. This is why I disagree when people say you should have to win your division to get into the NC.

the point is, the loser of the LSU/Bama game could easily be 11/1, and out of the SECCG. If things worked just right, the loser could be in.

yea i just noticed it got huge...don't know what happened...

I think it's possible that the loser could make it into the BCS NCG, but it would probably have to be a rematch against the winner.

that would mean an all SEC ncg, sweeet

IMO only conference champions should be allowed to compete for the mnc. The big-12 twice sent non-champions in over more deserving teams.

But being the "best in your conference" is only semantics. The SECCG winner is not necessarily the best in the conference. LSU in 2001 wasn't.....
If LSU is 11-1 with a loss to Alabama, and Alabama is 11-1 with a loss to Miss State, then who is the better team? Yes, Alabama won head-to-head. But Alabama also lost to a horrible State team.

understand your thinking, but if the east takes the title, they could possibly do so with two losses. The non partcipant in the SECCG from the West could be sitting pretty with only one loss. Back to the damn computers

That would be a bad rule. Like I said, a 1-loss SEC West team that lost to the "wrong" team could deserve a spot in the NCG.

so what happens to the conferences that dont have a championship game?

Conferences without a championship game determine their conference champion in their own way. IMO the True round robin that the PAC-10 and Big East play is the best way to determine a champion. Nobody forces the 12 team leagues to have a CG, they do it on their own.

I disagree, that is also why LSU jumped over Georgia last year in the human polls.

I think we all agree that no matter what happens, USC should be in the MNC game.

As long as we win our conference

So, how would you resolve this dilemma? Tug-O-War?
