District Attorneys have found a loophole in the system.
Most people opt for diversion programs or traffic school so they can keep the ticket off their driving record.
People still have to pay a fee, but that fee goes straight to the DA’s office. It doesn’t go to the CUF fund to be allocated to other departments and agencies.
It’s a cleverly disguised bribe. The public thinks they are paying a fine and opting to jump through a few hoops to keep the ticket off their record, but the DA’s office is pocketing that money and dismissing the charges.
Great post. This is exactly what’s happening.
