Please someone explain to me how Alabama or Georgia winning a National Championship helps LSU and maybe I’ll change my mind.

The respect the SEC gets is why they have two teams in the playoffs. That respect comes mostly from winning playoff games. LSU benefits from that respect. One year we might win a championship that, but for that respect, we would not have had a chance at, just like Georgia might do this year. Georgia would not be in the playoffs had Bama, UF and LSU not won half this century’s championships.

I hear you and I appreciate the well thought out response but I still want them to lose. I don’t give a shite about that.

To me win the SEC and you are in if you don’t win the SEC and get left out then that’s on you for not winning the SEC. Just my feelings.

Win all of your games and it doesn't matter.

Bama winning a championship and using that for recruiting hurts LSU way more than any "conference respect" BS

It’s not 2004 anymore.

In the BCS days before re-alignment, when the P5 conferences were generally regarded as equals, yeah pull for your conference.

Bama winning another title now is of absolutely no benefit to LSU, UGA, Florida.

The respect thing was in issue in 2006. The Michigan-Ohio State rematch thing was real. Florida getting in and waxing OSU made sure a lack of respect wouldn’t happen in the near future. The ensuing wins by LSU, Florida, Bama, and Auburn ended it for good. That’s why Bama was given a rematch in 2011. Pollsters still favored them over 1-loss Okie State.

In 2021, respect for the SEC is not a problem, and won’t be for the foreseeable future.
