That is such a garbage take.You really think Arnsparger knew in Dec of '86 that Florida would be looking for a new coach for the 1990 season?
Arnsparger wanted to make interim coach Gary Darnell full time coach. He basically was forced to hire Spurrier in '90.

Gramps interviewed for the (Florida) A.D. gig during fall practice, after he had interviewed Florida announced that they were not going to continue their search until after the football season was over, and LSU should have indeed fired his arse then as Bob wanted but the BOS stopped him.
Bob could be a loose cannon but he was a smart guy. He knew his football team was being coached by the next (Florida) A.D. imo
