re: Can LSU compete in a money war

Considering the top boosters, I suspect every top-half Power-5 school has enough money among boosters and alumni (not always the same people) to compete evenly in NIL deals.
It comes down to willpower.
Right now, it looks like A&M is dominant, but only because their boosters were more organized and more willing to spend money right now. Is that going to continue? I'm not so sure.
Consider Bo Nix. Right as NIL started, he signed a deal with Milo's Tea. In the six months since then, living in Montgomery, I've seen exactly 0 ads where Nix is hawking sweet tea. Nothing. Now, he's headed to Oregon, not exactly the hotbed for southern sweet tea.
From an economic stand-point, the money Nix got was wasted by Milo's. Sure, they got some props for supporting the QB at a school very important to their market. But, their money never generated advertisements and didn't ensure their spokesman stayed at that same school.
Somewhere along the line, the businessmen involved will figure out the ROI for NIL won't be as great as they originally thought, and the amount of money on the table will stabilize to a "what are we willing to pay" level. Sure, you will still see some natural players, like sporting goods stores like Tiger Mania or Bama Fever-Tiger Pride ponying out dollars, because having players doing signing sessions at their stores improves their bottom line. But, you're not likely to see the ridiculous deals we see now in recruiting.
More likely is that businesses will provide a relatively small amount during recruiting, and then when a player separates himself, the deals will roll in.
Well, that's my prediction anyway.
