Ask yourself this: "If Jones was dismissed today, who would be the defensive play caller for the bowl game?"

This bowl game means absolutely nothing win or lose it doesn’t mean anything. There are some meaningful snaps for players but it doesn’t really matter who calls the defense.

Tell that to the players. No one with any pride wants to be known as the first team to have a losing season at LSU since 2000.

The additional practices with Brennan coming back to develop timing and routine with the receivers that will be here next year is invaluable.

The additional practices allow the coaches an opportunity to work with younger players that don't get as much attention in practice during the season.

The bowl revenue increase LSU's share of conference bowl revenue.

Good practices and performance in the bowl game is a springboard into Spring Football.

It may have no meaning to you, but otherwise your assertion is way off-base.

ETA: Almost forgot the most important reason bowl games count for something - the players get treated like kings during bowl week, they get swag, stay in 5 star hotels, treated to lavish parties and meals. Yeah, I'm sure they absolutely hate that.
