My very first college football game was watching the Grantland Rice Bowl. Louisiana Tech and Terry Bradshaw got beaten by some team from Tennessee. I'm sure I still have the program in a box somewhere. I remember the game was in December, but it felt more like June. We sat a few rows behind Governor McKeithen and Ag Commissioner Dave Pierce, who wore his trademark Stetson hat the entire game.

I wonder how many on this board actually know who Grantland Rice and what an "Underwood" was.

Sportswriter and a typewriter. The latter required very strong fingers.
