College athletics either needs to do the NIL with strict transfer rules or let the transfer portal be the way it is without the NIL. The two together are going to drive college athletics off the deep end. We’re approaching the deep end at a very high rate.
NIL has the force of law, so there is very little that can be done via NCAA rules to eliminate or probably even significantly limit NIL. Reporting and the degree of school involvement may be the only thing they could really impact.
As for the portal, that isn't going anywhere either. The one time transfer immediate eligibility rule is not as bad as many seem to think and a lot of what you're seeing, in terms of numbers has more to do with the newness of the rule. All of this will settle out over the next couple of years.
I knew the TD was filled with snarky, often irreverent and sometime (I may be being kind) borish posters. What I failed to recognize is the vast number of skyscreamers that existed here. Did Orgeron do this too?

Some believe this, and it may be correct. I disagree though.
I think the opposite is going to occur. I think it will become a routine thing that grows more and more to the point that roster management is a very difficult thing for coaches. Also, fans will lose interest.
There will have to be restrictions to protect the game or the game dies.
