When the NIL being permitted was impending, because everybody knew it was coming, I was hopeful that the NCAA would allow the schools to be involved to a lesser degree for two main reasons.

1. So the schools could provide help with accounting and taxes.

2. So the schools could help hook them up with financial planners, maybe even provide a permanent position on the athletic staff to help with such (Lewis Neal comes to mind).

A) It's going to suck they day we have to suspend a player because the IRS comes calling. For everybody involved.

B) They are vulnerable. From outsiders and yes, in many cases, their own immaturity in managing money. Sadly in some cases from their own family. Not that the school automatically has the ethical high ground, but at least it is an extra set of eyes on it and the school does have some vested interest there where many do not.
