Well Doug Flutie is one of the hosts, so go figure. I would have put his around number 6 or 7.

Bluegrass miracle was much better. It got tipped multiple times and just fell into Jack hunt's, I mean deverys hands.

Context is everything on plays like this. That game was nationally televised on the day after Thanksgiving. The LSU game was a Jefferson Pilot game in early November, with a small part of the country seeing it.

Miami was defending national champion. Flutie was Heisman favorite (and eventual winner). LSU and Kentucky weren't in the national picture for anything in 2002.

A lot of people remember seeing or hearing the Flutie play live on Thanksgiving. A small percentage saw the Bluegrass Miracle live.

Flutie parlayed the play into a Heisman. LSU parlayed the Bluegrass Miracle into a ... 31-0 loss to Alabama the next week and a season with a very disappointing finish.

By itself, just on the basis of the play, you can make a good case for LSU's play being better, or at least more interesting and unexpected. In context, the Flutie pass stands the test of time and deserves to be highly regarded.

(Thanks for the clarification, LSUgrad.)

Where was Tim Couch versus the Saints at the Superdome, not on the list?

Very well said. I agree with everything you said. One minor detail though...the game was actually the Friday after Thanksgiving. (Yes, hard for the youngsters to believe that LSU/Arkansas was NOT on that day)

Man, when I think about it....the Iowa program has done jack shite to capitalize off that bowl win since then. Their records since then are 7-5, 6-7. 6-6.

Kinda like Illinois after we beat their arse in the Sugar Bowl. They went completely to shite for about 5 years after that. And like Miami. They haven't been right since we put that beat-down on them in the Peach Bowl.

The curse of LSU bowl opponents. First Iowa (even though it was a loss), then Miami, then ND...

I agree. NLU's championship in 87 was something special.
