Y'all watch the northeastern sky between midnight and sunrise August 11, 12, and 13 if you want to see some meteors.

quote:

The Perseid meteor shower is an annual occurrence where Earth passes through the debris of the Swift-Tuttle comet. As fragments of rock and ice burn at scorching temperatures of 3,000 degrees Fahrenheit upon entry, they light up the sky, creating a stunning visual spectacle. Ancient Chinese records dating back to A.D. 36 document this event .

Just FYI, the SkyGuide app is free, and you can use the search function to type in Perseids and it will tell you where to look.

There's probably an app for that, but here's a website:

You could pull up google maps, zoom out and look for a country road in your area.

We’re near Zion nation park and just finished a “star gazing” event. Were lucky enough to see 5 shooting stars/ meteors in 1 hour.

Also got to see a Starlink train of newly launched satellites.

Bump to remind y'all about Perseids tonight from midnight to sunrise.

The radiant is in the northeastern sky but the ones I saw last night seem to come from all directions. Look at the darkest parts of the sky for the best chance to see one.

I didn't get any great photos of meteors but Pleiades and Jupiter were stunning at the wee hours of this morning.

ETA Got one!
