American-Owned Caribbean Resort?

Some friends recently went to the Hilton La Romana resort in Dominican Republic. They said the accommodations and food were much better there than any non-American Caribbean resort they’ve been to. Do you folks of the Travel Board find this to be true? If so, do you have a recommendation for late October/early November? Looking for somewhere to take my wife, but don’t really want to go to the same place our friends went.

You know that is most likely a local resort with Hilton branding right.
Hotels are typically owned and operated by a separate company with licensing rights to the brand name.

I have no clue about such other than it’s owned by Hilton and our friends found it to be superior to other similar price point resorts they’ve been to in the Caribbean.

It's not owned by Hilton, it's branded as a Hilton. It's owned by Playa resorts.

If you're just looking for something catered towards Americans, any Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton property should work.
