Let's look at the SEC. Say it moves up 2 teams to 14. Will the SEC move o 9 conference games to keep the 3 interdivisional opponents/season?

SEC schools stand to make more money from that extra conference game than some shitty OOC like a ULM or La Tech or even a 1-AA.

What do you think will be the results? What happens at 16 teams?

thats a good question. I think a lot of it will have to due with the post season setup. For instance will they institue a 4-8 team playoff between the 3 supers conf. and an indepedent. Also, Someone mentioned on here that if we expanded to 16 teams then we could have a mini playoff for SEC champion. Have two teams from the west play each other for the west crown and two teams from the east play for the east crown then have the winners play for the SECC. If that were the case then it wouldnt be such a pressing issue for 9 SEC regular season games. We could just play our normal 8.

If they move, they move to 16 teams. 7 division games plus one rotating game vs other division. Then conference championship.

ETA You play every team in your division plus 1 team in the other.

I think 14 games would be needed for 16 team conferences.

3 non conference games

7 division games

4 rivalry division games.

This would mean playing every team in your conference twice every four years. Unless conferences elected for a cross division rivalry game.

I don't think this happens anytime soon. Especially if you want post season playoff.

14 regular season games would also mean a playoff wouldnt be possible. I doubt the schools will agree to playing 14 games every year

I agree that is why I am not a fan of 16 team conferences. If Alabama moved to the east and they keep three out of conference game and a cross division rival game Alabama would come to Tiger Stadium like every 13 years. That would be weak. Keep 12 or expand to 14 games.

I think both is unlikely given what is going on now.

That is why I am not a big fan of the 16 team conference right now. Even talk of giving two BCS bigs with 16 team conferences. Basically it becomes two conferences inside one. PAC 10 still does not want a title game but two BCS bids.

Also I think this eliminates the cross division rival game.
