for most LSU folks, yeah i can see this. listening to Bo, Dudley, & Clay (who btw, has never gotten over being tigerbaited years ago in Tiger Stadium) the other day it was striking the number of callers who mentioned they didn't want LSU to beat Oregon because LSU was their "rival"...what that had to do with not wanting an SEC team to beat a Pac 12 team is telling...all because of the rival myth.

the simple truth is LSU/Arky is a manufactured rivalry. it's developed into a big game, primarily because of the time of the yr. it is played and the stakes that have been on the line the last few years.

definitely manufactured, but it's "growing". It's strange for me though, b/c I just can't hate LSU. They definitely are hating us a lot more. Especially on TD. Every hog thread on the sec rant is trolled by them reeking of hate.

LSU, the cultural clash between the two schools fanbase is as extreme as can be.

You have to remember though, I dont think Tigerdroppings is an indication of all Tiger Fans. Although i havent had the chance to go to a football game in Little Rock or Fayetteville, I do enjoy and have enjoyed my visits to the great state of Arkansas. I believe, it is a natural rivalry and growing obviously because of the proximity of Arkansas and Louisiana. Many of my great friends are Hog fans.

gotcha. maybe the 'rivalry' thing is more stoked in central and s. arkansas because of the closer proximity and because a lot of those folks in south ark get monroe or s'port tv.

i just found it somewhat informative not that so many that called into Bo want LSU to lose to Oregon, but rather their reasoning behind it.

I pull for LSU every game but one. Always have and always will. A lot of hog fans do.

for the record....it's really hard for most Arkansans to claim the most southern portion of the state; and for good reason.

Same here. So, that's definitely not indicative of a true rival. They just paired us up b/c the Miss/Alabama schools are paired.

I haven't had much contact with the Aggies, but if the few message board heros are an accurate indication of the rest of the population, it's not hard to imagine disliking them more than the Hogs.

I say, we both hate aTm together.

It's helped that we've both been competing for SEC West crowns and Sugar Bowl at large bids. Our game last season for the Sugar Bowl. More often than not our games seem to be close ones. And what annoys me is when Arky has an average to mediocre team they still jump up and slap LSU.

just wait until you experience a game at Kyle field and the aggie fans. they are good people and treat you well, but it's just something so different than what we SEC fans experience. The yell leaders don't help. it won't be hard to dislike them. trust me.

see, that's what makes it into a growing rivalry. all bets are off. much like aTm/Texas and Bama/AU.

i went to the LSU game at Kyle in '89...mostly i remember lots of chicks kissing dudes, and Tommy Hodson running for his life the whole game.

they've got a lot a quirky routines, but all in all (beside the score), we had a blast...this was before they added onto Kyle, so i can just imagine now...

Personally I think a nice little trio rivalry between LSU, Arkansas, and us will develop.

I was fairly young but I remember some of the LSU-Aggie games in the 90's and it was big time hate. It could develop into a huge series.

I think us moving to the SEC will hurt OU the most as well. With so much uncertainty in the big12-2-1 or them possibly going west, it has to affect their recruiting of Texas kids. They dont want to play on the west coast, I can tell you that much.

I also think we will struggle a bit a first year in the SEC. We lost a lot on the D-line and secondary, but our recruiting is definitely getting on par for what we need to compete. Luckily, we return practically our entire two deep on a very talented Oline, and hopefully return our 5* running back as well.

What is Mizzou came along eventually... think Arky and Mizzou would spark a little rivalry together seeing how close they are to eachother?

DEFINITELY in basketball. the departure of Mike Anderson fueled some serious hate from Mizzou. Him coming home to US of all people definitely made it worse.
