I think he may be right.

Hawaii joined the MWC as a Football only school and will be in the Big West for all other sports.

Realistically, basketball and academic prestige aside, doesn't the Big East get better in football losing Syracuse and Rutgers and gaining Houston, SMU, and Air Force? Assuming WVU doesn't bolt (which I doubt they will, they're not attractive to any of the big conferences aside from maybe the Big 12-2-1). And if these are football-only memberships, the travel isn't really all that bad at all - no worse than it is for UF pulling State and Arkansas from the west and having to travel to KY and USC.

Football to the Big East and everything else to the Big Sky.... Not bad at all, logistics wise.
