Why not Clemson? It's not like USCe has that much SEC pull

just seems so obvious. any insight would be appreciated.

Clemson would be awesome, but they don't add any new markets and do not have any large following outside of SC. I would trade Clemson for SC though.

All I can see that Clemson brings is a giant pet rock. I cannot see how they can bring in enough value to the conference to justify their share.

because they don't bring anything to the table. Its just another team to split money with

There are 3 SEC teams within, what, a 100 miles or so of Clemson? These people are already watching a lot of SEC games. For the most part, what you will get is the audience that watches Clemson games only. Are MD and MO worth it? I don't know, but it's clear that they have more potential.
what more does Maryland and Mizzou bring?

It wouldn't make a difference.

who is really turning on the TV to watch Maryland and Mizzou anyway
not offense, but neither is really known for bringing a strong fanbase

cant speak too well on Maryland. They seem more like a Kentucky-type school to me

Yeah. A team located half way between Kansas City and St. Louis couldn't possibly have any fans in those towns. I bet that 11 am SEC game that's probably sindicated there does 100 times better cuz we're the freaking SEC! Man, the force of your argument is just so overwhelming that I just gotta concede.

i've heard from multiple sources w/ ties to USC and UGA that UGA is more opposed to Clemson than USC. in fact, i've heard they are more opposed to Clemson than GaTech. Clemson is 75 miles from Athens and about 130 miles from Columbia. Clemson recruits Georgia hard and UGa doesn't need another neighbor w/ an SEC flag to recruit against. Also, UGA already has 3 border rivals w/ UF, Auburn & SC, not to mention GTech. they really don't want another.... they would probably oppose FSU for the same reasons. Tallahassee is south Georgia.... And I don't blame them at all.

While Mizzou is better than clemson, they are certainly not the draw you make them out to be. It takes more than large markets, it takes a fan base who gives a shite (see miami's perpetual inability to draw well, even when they were good). Mizzou has a 71,000 seat stadium. Dont you think its a litle strange that a school so close to two major met areas only has a 71,000 seat stadium?

I don't see the SEC adding any team to the conference from a state where we already have a footprint.

that's fine. if that's the case, then i dont see the need to expand for expansion's sake. a&m is fine, i guess, but i dont see anything else really interesting
Okie State does a lot more for me than Mizzou or Maryland

I'm not making them out to be anything. In this thread, I've already stated that I don't know if they are worth it--meaning I don't know if they would generate enough value to justify their share. The issue is whether or not from their current position is if they would add more than Clemson.
To repeat, there is hardly any SEC presence in MO. SC is inundated with SEC presence. Clemson has 3 SEC schools within about 100 miles. Where are you going to get these extra viewers? Saying they have a bigger stadium is not exactly pertinent.

they're not really watching games now. they won't start b/c they're in the SEC. they add nothing

2 cities that don't give a flying frick about CGB or Missouri. if they did, Missouri would make more money on its own

well, the clemson fans
i bet clemson fans who actually turn in to watch outnumber missouri fans who turn in to watch (both locally and nationwide)
