Hey Obama, is that you?

I would like to see some concrete numbers on how FSU will mean that much more money to ESPN and the thus the conference when the entire FL market is handled by UF.

If adding them indeed brings in significant additional revenue then I may be able to get behind it. I don't know the economics of TV deals and market share at all so it's tough for me to get my arms around it.

I just hope you understand that it's not about fear. I don't know how many times you have to hear it from a UF fan.

We are right behind them in recruiting this year and may end up ahead of them. Both will have terrific classes. I don't think them being in the SEC would change that much at all.

One of our Gump friends here was hosting my avi for me. I guess he's got more views than he should.

I'll change it.

Team does not equal fans.

I respect their team and program. Some of their fans are PIMAs though.

Getting lectured by a Gump is funny though.

I don't doubt that having FSU in the SEC would be attractive to a sports broadcaster when bidding for the SEC contract.

What I also don't doubt is the way Florida hated the way this was presented to them.

Slive was basically telling UF to "Eat a dick, it won't taste that bad...trust me on this...and it'll do the rest of us so much good!"

being a power house means jackshit when you dont have the titles to back it up. fsu baseball can suck a dick till they do something worth while.

its easy to understand why uf doesn't want fsu in the sec. it doesn't help them one bit to add fsu and let fsu in on a slice of the pie and let fsu level the playing field in recruiting.

This might be the case. I don't know the answer.

I guess it makes sense in this scenario.

National game: UF/LSU
Regional game (ESPN 1 or 2): FSU/OM

or

National game: FSU/UG
Regional game: UF/Arky

If the regional game brings in decent revenue I guess adding FSU makes sense. I just don't the economics of it all.

My bigger question is how many SEC games can possibly be televised on a single Sat???

I hope we don't forced into a bunch of Thursday games.

I don't even care about recruiting. They are doing fine now. How much better can they do? There are plenty of athletes to go around in FL alone.

I just don't want to help those bastids.

Your sense and sensibility has caught me very much off guard.

Indiana Tiger will say it does help us but for the life of me I don't know how.

My main problem is seeing how they bring more money in the FL market.

only argument for helping is giving each team slightly more money from tv.

That is only a small gain. Based on their past performance FSU is something of a national brand. FSU comes with many fine television sets across the country.

How do we know this is true? They have not been relevent in 7-8 years.

Most 18 year olds may not even identify with them any longer. Bobby Bowden and his hee haw persona are gone and I think his personality helped their identity as much as their run in the 90s and early 2000s.

Actually, USC is really the only other SEC that can sympathize.

And sympathize we do. Most SC fans would want our University to do everything it its power from allowing Clemson to join the SEC (if it got to that point) Though Gamecocks and Tigers have always loved and stressed the importance of football.. Tiger fans and their school alike have put way more into beating us than we have to him and you have seen the results on the field... now SC has stressed the importance of beating Clemson and keeping the best in-state talent in-state and you have seen the most recent results.

If Clemson were allowed to join in the SEC had put $$$ in their pockets and take away the "would you rather play SEC or ACC football" advantage away from recruiting.. would nullify a lot of what we have done over the last few years.

What does FSU bring to the SEC??

Their APR is low.
They can't sell out their stadium despite their national recognition.
They rely on taxpayer's money to cover their expenses.
They can't sell out their bowl allotment.

Florida plays them every year. They compete in recruitment every year and most years their rankings are higher than Florida's.

Why should we help them? F*** FSU. They had their opportunity to come to the SEC and they were too stupid to take it.

F*** FSU.

With respect, I don't think the situations are similar at all. SC is a small state, Florida is huge.

I can't see the SEC wanting another Mississippi or Alabama type deal. Tennessee isn't comparable, as both schools in that state have to recruit nationally anyways.
