Why doesn't the Big 12 try to get these teams?

If I'm the Big 12 and I'm trying to stay together, I'm wanting to find some replacement teams for the 3 that have left. Why not add TCU, BYU, and Boise St? All 3 teams should be pretty receptive to getting into the Big 12 as it legitimizes their "national championship caliber team" claims and should get them some more money. As for the Big 12, I'd think they'd want to add as many decent football schools as they can. Boise is a media darling, TCU may help to recover a few fans in the Texas market, and BYU brings the Salt Lake City market and Mormons (and who doesn't love Mormons?). I don't know. I'm trying to think of teams that the Big 12 could use to fill their ranks and those 3 stand out to me a lot more than WVU as has been suggested on ESPN.

For some reason, UT is butthurt over TCU.

I totally agree, these 3 could create a viable conference. Unfortunately, there was a reason (probably best known to Texas) that TCU went to the Big East instead of naturally filling Nebraska or Colorado's vacancy. And I'm sure Boise's academics and market will provide excuses to exclude them.

With Texas and OU, the Big12 doesn't need another DFW school. Which means no to TCU.
BYU makes sense...it will happen if the Big12 survives.
Even with Texas, Houston makes sense. TAMU carried a bit more of that market than people realize. Even adding Rice to get the numbers/academics up makes sense.
Air Force could happen as the most consistent service academy on the field than brings TV eyes.
If you lost Colorado, why not add Colorado State? The loyalty in that state is pretty much split between the two, so CSU helps get that Denver market back.
If they lose TAMU and Mizzou, the Big12 can go to 12 or 16:
Oklahoma State
Texas
Iowa State
Texas Tech
Baylor
Oklahoma
Kansas State
Kansas
Houston
Colo. State
Air Force
BYU
---
Rice
UNLV
San Diego State
Boise State
Pods for 16:
1) Texas, UH, Rice, Baylor
2) OU, Kansas, K-State, Iowa State
3) OSU, TTU, Air Force, Colo. State.
4) Boise St, UNLV, San Diego St., BYU
Thus, they can have semifinals with UT, OU, Boise and OK State pretty much every year (aka. the biggest gerrymander in history). But they'll make plenty of money.
