Utah actually adds a better team to
Conf then they should have added Boise St. This would have made the North better than before Neb and CU

Utah is probably headed to pac 10 so the pac 10 can have a championship game. Boise is a very small market

I would be pushing hard for BYU if I were them.

They are standing pat at 10 teams. That's how their new 10 year TV contract is structured. They might change things if a real box office draw team was willing to come, but Utah and Boise (or BYU or Air Force or TCU) ain't the type.

Big 12 growth options based on regions

West
Utep
BYU
Air Force
Colorado State

Central
Tulsa
Rice
Houston
SMU

East
Memphis
LA Tech
Southern Miss

I think if they add 2 teams they would make a move to pick up some TV market and it might not be a bad idea to push east and challenge the SEC for recruiting grounds.

The schools to the east are not great now, but with a big influx of money and the added recruiting help of the big 12 name they could turn into solid programs

Those teams would do nothing to help them compete with the SEC along the recruiting front. Texas is almost entirely concerned with the state of Texas and so is aTm, and even OU. Mack Brown isn't going to stay with a kid recruited by every school in the SEC that is from Memphis.

I've heard people don't want to deal with the Sunday rule. Too bad, because BYU is a big school with a much larger fan base than Utah. Isn't Baylor a Baptist school? You could have the Baptists vs Mormons Bowl. Come up with a trophy for that one.

It wouldn't an overnight fix but given 5-6 years to improve facilities and recruit they could be competitive. Not saying they would win the Big 12 just saying they could be decent additions.

The competition on the recruiting front would be for those 2 schools vs. the SEC. I know they wouldn't pull the 5 star guys but they could eat into the depth of some of the SEC recruiting classes.

Who else would the big 12 add? They don't have a whole lot to pick from

Sorry but I completely disagree. Those are terrible additions and as I said, those schools barely even recruit those areas of the country if you follow recruiting at all. Texas is virtually entirely comprised of Texas kids and Mack doesn't extend himself if it presents a long recruiting battle. He doesn't need to.

The recruiting battle wouldn't be for Texas to get SEC region kids it would be for 2 new schools to eat into the SEC region talent pool. and you don't think that if these teams were added to the Big 12 that it would help out their regional recruiting? The added money and bump in program status wouldn't help?

Who would you look to add to make the Big 12 a 12 team league again?
