I see they have won 1 bowl game (2001) since joining the Big 12(10).. and finished in the top 25 last year for the first time since 1999.

Why all the hype? The Shermanator?
I understand returning all these starters creates promise but by the time they get to the SEC they're are going to suck balls.

Look back a little farther. And look at our fanbase, resources, etc. We have potential.

We are finally putting the pieces together to form a strong foundation for a football team. You're right, our resume isn't stellar. But we've made some noise lately and could provide a great addition to the SEC area. The state of Texas is the unquestioned king of HS football and only stands to benefit those that have a hand in it.

It just seems that while y'all are currently on top (i guess) of the Big 12, why jet to the SEC when there's the potential to round out the bottom of the west for a few years?

You're missing the point. Why does Notre Dame still look attractive to the Big 10 after a decade of sucking on the field?

TV Eyeballs.

On the field performance is secondary to TV market performance. No one is claiming we've been a good football team the last 10 years.

If anything, A&M history of moderate success is actually a selling point to the SEC. We are a solid, historical program. The strength of a conference is in its middle. Every conference has 1-4 teams which are MNC hopefuls every year. The difference in quality is the SEC has another 6 teams below those that which can compete for a conference championship every year, and the occasional MNC. No other conference has that. THAT is what makes the SEC the premiere conference.

Touchy subject? All he said is we both demand eyeballs which equal money. And neither have had much success recently

..... its 'their history', and I get it. But Harvard has a lot of history. Harvard doesn't bring eyeballs, ND (and to a more regional extent) so does A&M. That's my entire point.

ND has people watch them because they used to dominate the sport and win Championships, A&M, I'll assume, has people watch them because they have an enormous amount of alumni.

really they are sad and would be a much more better fit for CUSA. They will be a run through team for the SEC for at least the first 5 years having to take their place at the end middle/ end of pack.

They really should look to another means to be successful than the SEC. They will not like it here and not be competitive.

I like the deal from the rivalry POV. Arky hates them and they'll be a natural rival for us since we recruit the same swath of east Texas.

If we can find a decent counter-balance in the East like a FSU, VT or Clemson that would avoid a division re-alignment, then I really like this a lot.

Same was said about Arky in the 90s. Seems like you got over it. Well, everything but the inferiority complex. Have fun while your fake rivalry gets sidelined for a headline game of LSU vs A&M.

Cokebottle, a heads up. Majority of Arky fans on here do nothing but spit vitriol about A&M when brought up. They are really against our move to the SEC (fans not the admin). You can draw your own conclusions why

how can you be so myopic to not grasp the fact that gaining a footprint in the state of Texas is huge for the SEC

it's monumental, it's a game changer for everyone

I'm quite aware of this.

I do love it though. Why else do people get on internet message boards of other teams but to shite-talk?

our history with you suggests we'll experience more conference W's with you in the SEC, what's not to like?
