That and their "superior" academic ranking are the only reasons their being considered over us. Both are garbage arguments

I really don't understand what "academic" ranking have to do with a university's athletic program. Wish someone could post some links into why academics is important when most football and basketball players struggle just as bad as normal students. And from what I hear they have it a hell of a lot easier than regular students, not going into that. Hell some even have to go the JUCO route before they can get into some of these major schools.
Exactly. Aren't these athletic conferences? I guarantee the athletes ACT and GPAs are about the same at every school

Yeah?
Those are professional markets. It's all about the Chiefs and Rams

For the record, WVU has been increasing their standards a lot in the past 5-10 years. Hell, we jumped 12 places from last year in that poll. But again, how do you determine academic rankings? Not claiming to be Harvard here but we're not a community college
That's great, so they were ranked 176th last year? MSU this year is the worst SEC school at 157, and the next closest is Ole Miss at 143. So you would be 23 spots from being the 3rd worst academic program in the conference.

I'll guarantee you that we land in the ACC or SEC and Cincy will be in the Big 12/Big East leftovers
Probably but Uve been in the big least for years and ull probably be stuck there till 2014 so might want to dial down the smugness about teams being left there.

.......
I just said we've raised standards and improved the school a lot in the past 5 years. We jumped 12 spots this year.....jump another 10 next year. Maybe 5-10 the next year......get the pattern?

CFB is a growing animal, still makes more sense to take large markets that are football crazy with small carryover into college rather than small markets with large carry over into college football.

Just wondering, what does Mizzou have that WVU doesn't? A St. Louis or Kansas City market they probably carry 4% of the population in?
You have more companies, more money, more sponsorships, more alumni working in those areas. In turn the people in the state and city will have more money. I'm sure conference don't want a bunch of teams from rinky dink states if they are looking at the money end of the deal. Like I said in another post, Kansas City's Jackson Country residents already pumped over $600 million in stadium renovations, built a new Arena(Sprint Center) when most tax payers in other cities will vote NO when it come to funding stadiums for sports teams.
STL built a new Stadium, building the ballpark village with new high rise buildings, offices across from Busch Stadium. Shows people will spend money when it comes to sports. Mizzou's basketball arena is pretty new, about to renovate the football stadium. Missouri State built a new Arena in Springfield. If you have people putting money into sports in a bad economy that says a lot about your state.
Fortune 500 companies in Missouri.....

Sorry buddy, it doesn't work that way.
According to you, WVU is going to be in the top 100 in 6 years.
LSU has increased admissions across the board and improved and still is at 128 and same for Arkansas at 132.
In the end you'll likely top off in between MSU and Ole Miss at best.

But when you count total athletic revenue and expenses (which includes advertisements, ticket sales, promotions, tv contracts, etc) WVU brings in about 62 mil, Mizzou brings in about 61 mil...WVU spends about 56 mil and Mizzou spends over 61 mil and actually pulls up a net loss (like most NCAA athletic departments), WVU profits about 6 mil
Mizzou in St. Louis is like Rutgers in NYC, its an attractive market but no one really cares about the team there

When you recently raise standards and make huge improvements in the school, it does work that way. We just set up a $300 million project to build more academic buildings.

That's why you see the SEC and now Pac 12 being mentioned with Mizzou instead of KU, Iowa State, Baylor, and Kansas State. They can easily tap into a market when pro teams in both Kansas City and St. Louis are down. More fans will probably turn towards college football instead of watching the Chiefs get pounded and outscored 80-10 in 2wks and the Rams aren't for sure a lock in STL with L.A. wanting a team, good chance to steal some hungry fans to watch and spend money on good football.

Auburn? About as far away as Arkansas, and I don't plan on making that drive anytime soon.
And it's in the wrong direction. It's in Yankee territory.

and here, in a nutshell, is why i think you are fricking crazy on the issue of expansion.

Man, even a WVU poster on here admitted that Morgantown is a Northern city.

A little part of me dies inside for every Auburn game I miss.
