How much would you expect the TV revenue to go up when A&M and the 14th school are added? surely it will go up, otherwise the SEC wouldn't be looking at expansion.

its at what, 17 mil now?

could it get to 25? 30?

All I know is there is a clause in that SEC ESPN/CBS TV deal that allows for more money to be paid out if the SEC basically expands into new TV footprints/markets is the way I understand it. To give an exact dollar amount, I don't think anyone would know that at this point in time. If Texas A&M indeed joins the SEC, and I hope they do because I enjoyed playing them in the past, I would think the SEC needs to find another school, one from the state of Virginia or North Carolina.

Slive has said that if OU, UT, and A&M join the payout will be between $25M to $30M per team per year. I'm guessing it will jump to about $20M per team if A&M joins. If OU and A&M join it will jump to close to $25M.

Keep in mind that each team gets to set their own PPV deals with this. As I understand it UF gets about $10M from this and Arky gets about $7M. So when the Big-10 says they are paying out more ($22M) than the SEC ($17M) it's true, but the SEC teams are making an extra $5M to $10M that the Big-10 teams aren't.

The PAC-16 is predicting that they are going to get a $20M per year TV deal, but I don't see it. The PAC-10 deal and Big-12 deals are each worth about $100M separately (that's league wide not per team). If you just merge the two leagues that would be $200M. Divide that amongst 16 teams and you get $13M per team. I don't see how you can ditch Nebraska and somehow get it to $20M per team. ...especially when the big draw in the PAC-10 is about to take a big hit.

I think you're right doc. i also think that's why texas was so desperate for a&m to go too- they needed to be able to garauntee the whole state o texas.

Plus, with no conference game and very little play between the two new 'division' how exactly will all those tv sets out west help texas? Its not like californians are gonna care to watch Texas play any of the teams they're bringing with them (other than Oklahoma)since without much interdivisional play and a championship game Txas won't really affect the californians teams.

Those numbers sound about right to me. Personally, I think Texas has really screwed up. I don't think they treated Nebraska right and they said the hell with this and joined the Big 10. Mizzo would have left as well had there been an offer. Looks to me like Texas has painted themselves into a corner that may work out or it may not. I just don't see the TV dollars for a Pac 10 expansion paying out as much as they think or hope. And they really pissed me off because they said they would not consider joining the SEC because we don't have enough AAU members and our conference academics are poor. I hope OU leaves Texas to fend for themselves and joins the SEC as well and let those Longhorns have fun playing the Washington State Cougars or the Stanford Trees.

I was wondering if a Pac-16 spanning 3 different timezones could affect the TV deal they want. With so many teams playing at different times, there might be a conflict of interest when it comes to cross-divisional matchups, which is the most intriguing part about this expansion IMO. I'm sure someone smarter than me could figure out logistics, but if they have a big weekend of crucial matchups primarily in one timezone, how will they decide the times/markets/stations without pissing off some schools?
