Beebe admits that only nine schools have signed off and committed to this new league. He's hopeful that Texas Tech commits later today.

If I got assurance that the new MWC would have an immediate BCS bid after its formation, I'd do it. frick it. They already have their own TV network, so they are ahead of the Big XII game in that regard.
Exactly. If you're Kansas, KSU, and Mizzou... it's only going to get worse for you. This is the most power you will ever have in this conference, which ain't much, but it's about to get worse. Do something bold.

Really, this has been a failure of leadership at every school save Texas. They DO have options, they just refuse to see them. The MWC is on the cusp of the BCS, it is a viable option if you are willing to take risks.

I will say this. TT really should have called all the other schools that were getting ripped off by OU, UT and aTm and made sure they were all on the same page. They would have much more power as a collective.

How do we know they didn't? Tech could easily pull something under the radar. Remember, it was strongly held that Tech and Okla State had no pull -- either they join the party or be relegated to the WAC. So while everyone pisses on Bevo, stratches their heads over the Boomer Sooner gang as to why they need to be Bevo's bitch, and suddenly realizes that A&M isn't being told what to do any more, Tech calls the rest of the crew and says if we stick together we can make more money.

And remember, if Texas and OU bolt to the Pac-10 and A&M heads to the SEC, the Big 12 minus however many still legally exists and has the equivalent of a Willy Wonka Golden Ticket -- that being an automatic BCS bowl berth. Simply merge the Big 12 with either the Mountain West (or the WAC, CUSA, whoever) and the ticket is still good. Even if the Big 12 champ gets relegated to the last choice on the BCS bowls, that's still a lot more $$$ than the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl will provide.

If the BCS coalition tries to yank the Golden Ticket (the automatic BCS bowl berth), the Big 12 can simply:
1) sue the BCS (Baylor does have one of Texas' few law schools),
2) raise a big stink in the media,
3) petition Congress for an anti-trust review, or 4) all of the above.

It is a long shot--but remember the Bluegrass Miracle!
